I have decided that its time i started looking for a part time job. I have been on a disability pension now for about 5 years and haven't worked in about 7 due to the depression i suffered also due to back issues. I'm wanting part time because its been so long and i think ill need to get back into it slowly.
I have joined up with a disability job network agency who helps people in my situation find a job with an employer who will understand why i haven't been in the work force for so long, and who will also understand that i might have to take a few days off with short notice (due to another medical condition i have). This is actually pretty scary for me, getting a job will be a huge change, but one I'm also looking forward to.
Has anyone here had any experience with returning to work after a long absence?

Its been about 19 years since I last worked .. I dont get any government money though.. so its just my hubby's wage that keeps us going, so money is very tight a lot of the time and sometimes its spent on bills even before we get it.. So sometimes I wish I could find a job so I could help out... But with all my issues I dont think I could find any employer who could handle all my issues.. The BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) probably wouldnt be too much of a problem in a job... But the GAD (Genaral Anxiety Disorder) and SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder) make it nearly impossible for me to handle certain job situations and requirement but having the PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) means I sometimes get flash backs with that.. which could be bad if they happened in a job situation.. Plus I also have a number of phobias as well, such as phone phobia, a slight germ phobia which means I dont like to touch door handles, light switches, hand rails on escalators or stairs.. basically anything where people could have touched I dont like .. including shaking hands... It makes living pretty hard, because I find it very hard to leave my house unless I'm with my husband.. But I wish I could find a job as at least that would give my life a little more normalacy.... Good luck with your job hunting...

It would be hard with your issues to get out there and get a job, i can understand that. If you really wanted to though i'm pretty sure there would be something to do from home, that could be done in your own time. I was even thinking about something as simple as delivering papers but sadly my back wouldn't stand up to that
