Although my family has had dogs all my life I got my first dog when I was about 14/15 years old... She was a Chihuahua x Corgi mix and she was my baby for about 12 years and she lived through some of my worst times and comforted me. Her name was Lady.
A few years before Lady died I got her a friend.. a little Chihuahua x Pomeranian girl who I named Tina. Tina lived to be about 12 years also, sadly near the end of her life she started to go blind and she lost all her teeth, so her tongue always hung out to one side, it was so cute. Sadly Tina got cancer in her leg and by the time we noticed the lump it was too late, teh lump grew qickly and 2 weeks after seeing the vet about the lump, Tina passed away in my arms at home.
About 6 years after we got Tina we decided to get her a little friend.. This time I got a purebred Chihuahua .. he was the runt of the litter and very small, his pedigree name was Tiny Tim, so he is called Tiny. He will be turning 10 years old in October 2009... He lost the sight in one eye over about a year and then lost the sight in his other eyes very quickly .. within a week... So he now totally blind and still just getting used to it, so he still walks into things and gets frightened easily. I am really hoping that I will still have a few more years with him.
But I believe that once Tiny passes away I wont be getting another dog for a few years...
